Description
The roseate spoonbill was near extinction because they were hunted for the pink feathers that were popular in the 19th century for hats. Now a protected species, we see them for a short time on the golf course where they gather as fledglings before flying off to parts unknown. Their beaks are interesting as they vibrate in the water to filter for smaller fish.
