Description
We visited in 2018, and toured via jeep with a local Navajo guide in a jeep tour. We had a lovely day and a very informative tour. According to Wikipedia, Canyon de Chelly National Monument (/dəˈʃeɪ/ də-SHAY) was established on April 1, 1931, as a unit of the National Park Service. Located in northeastern Arizona, it is within the boundaries of the Navajo Nation and lies in the Four Corners region. We spent the first part of our trip on the road that travels above the canyons. It isn't possible to go into the canyons without a guide. However, the Navaho Guide was knowledgeable and added a goodly amount to our experience, introducing us to family members who continue to live in the valley.
