Description
According to the Merritt Island Wildlife Association. "Black Point Wildlife Drive is a premier wildlife observation area built on an existing system of dyke roads, originally created as mosquito control impoundments. The drive is a maintained 7 mile one-way road designed to provide visitors with at safe and enjoyable wildlife viewing experience." At the center of Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, It is a mecca for migratory birds. The day I created this photo it was very unFlorida like. The wind blew and there was a bit of a drizzle and heavy clouds. Merritt Island maintains its isolation because of its proximity to NASA and the surrounding Indian River Lagoon.
