Description
We took this while we were on the boat tour on the Kenai Fjord National Park in Alaska. The weather was cool and damp, but the scenery (captured in more photos in this set) was truly remarkable. I really like how the trees and mountains form a silhouette against the clouds and sky.
The park, according to Wiki was established in 1980 by the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act. The park covers an area of 669,984 acres on the Kenai Peninsula in south-central Alaska, near the town of Seward. The park is named for the numerous fjords carved by glaciers moving down the mountains from the ice field. The fjords are glacial valleys that have been submerged below sea level by a combination of rising sea levels and land subsidence. The Kenai mountains often drop all the way down to the water here making a dramatic backdrop for the glaciers.
