These owls can usually be found nesting in Philippe Park in Safety Harbor every year. There is another photo with a different angle available on my page from two years ago. This year, the adult was a little further from the nest. The nest is fairly crowded as they have three owlets this year. I'll try to post the owlet picture once it is edited. Bird watching is very popular here, so at anytime there are a half dozen or so tripods set up under the nest as everyone waits to get the best shot. Both parents take part in providing food for young owls. Young may leave the nest and climb on nearby branches at 5 weeks, can fly at about 9-10 weeks; tended and fed by parents for up to several months. Hopefully, we will have some of those photos. I love to tell stories. About twenty years ago I had my first freelance travel article accepted by a magazine. Much to my surprise, the magazine expected photos along with words. I had not taken any during the preliminary work for my article. I drove back to the site and took the photos for the article with my little Olympus digital camera. The article was published with those very amateur photos. In time, I bought an Olympus OMD-EM5, a great camera for nature and travel photographers and discovered that I enjoyed telling stories with pictures more than I did with words. The last twenty year have been an incredibly exciting time as resources for photographers have exploded. I have been lucky enough to have some great teachers along the way...
