Artist's Description
Summer in Florida can be very hot and humid. Most of us locals head out before the crack of dawn to exercise. I run at a number of our local parks and Eagle Lake Park is just a few miles away. Eagle Lake is deep, so not necessarily a favorite amongst our wading birds. But the birds move around and apparently there was a lot of food this week because this morning there were hundreds of birds and probably at least 15 species. These little green herons are very shy and before this morning I had only seen a handful. This morning I was so excited because there were quite a few. They likely had a nest. There was much drama as an anhinga had bee sitting on this branch for quite some time. Another anhinga snuck up and chased her off the branch. This heron took advantage of the brouhaha to take over the perfect spot. These small herons crouch patiently to surprise fish with a snatch of their daggerlike bill. They sometimes lure in fish using small items such as twigs or insects as bait.
About L Bosco
I love to tell stories. About twenty years ago I had my first freelance travel article accepted by a magazine. Much to my surprise, the magazine expected photos along with words. I had not taken any during the preliminary work for my article. I drove back to the site and took the photos for the article with my little Olympus digital camera. The article was published with those very amateur photos. In time, I bought an Olympus OMD-EM5, a great camera for nature and travel photographers and discovered that I enjoyed telling stories with pictures more than I did with words. The last twenty year have been an incredibly exciting time as resources for photographers have exploded. I have been lucky enough to have some great teachers along the way...
